Breakfast at the Burying Ground and Big Scrub/Big Rub

The Friends of Spencer’s Corners Burying Ground (FOSCBG) will be gathering on Sunday, 11 August at 8 AM for Breakfast at the Burying Ground. Family, friends, and members of the public are invited to join the scrub or just come to watch. Free coffee, donuts, and other goodies will be on hand. One team will be assigned to work on selected stones and obelisks for the annual Big Scrub. This involves careful applications of a non-toxic, biological solution of D2 that safely removes build-up of algae and atmospheric detritus. Gloves, brushes, and sprayers will be provided. Another team will be taking part in the Big Rub, making gravestone rubbings with specially impregnated paper, to reveal inscriptions and epitaphs degraded by time and weather.
